Welcome Back to the Polynesian

You’ve heard me talk about similar topics in many blogs: a disney bed, the importance of nap/pool time and certain Disney smells. Taking the award

for my favorite smell is the lobby of the Polynesian. So, you can imagine my excitement when I was able to stay there for the first time since the 80’s! Being greeted at a Deluxe resort is different than any others. Of course all resorts have great Customer Service and a welcoming feel, but at the deluxe resorts, they take it to a whole different level.

When you arrive at the security booth and tell them you’re checking in, they let the hotel know and once you arrive at the front doors, you are already being greeted by name. I was there for my 1 year wedding anniversary and we decided to go deluxe for the first night and value for the next two. After being asked what we were celebrating, we were given two anniversary pins and beautiful flower lei’s. As if that wasn’t enough, we were upgraded to a park view room! It was awesome. Again, having not been in a room at this hotel since I was little, this was definitely the type of comeback that was needed.

The room and the bathrooom was not only bigger than I remember but definitely bigger than some other deluxe resort rooms. It was nice to not feel cramped without being in a suite. The view was perfect. We were right on the beach with a shot of Space Mountain and Cinderella’s castle. That night we were able to watch Wishes right from our patio.

In classic Dillos fashion of staying at the Polynesian, we had breakfast at Ohana’s the next morning. This used to be the best character breakfast buffett-you got to see everyone! Then it switched to only Lilo and Stitch…now they’re slowly incorporating other characters back in which is nice to see. The breakfast has since changed from a buffett to family style, but the pinapple bread still rocks.

It was a great welcome back and I can’t wait to stay there again soon!
